ARDEA LINE

Optical beam smoke and fire detector

The ARDEA line detectors use a modulated optical beam as defined in the Europe standard EN 54-12.

The detectors are made up of a Transmitter unit (Tx) and a Receiver unit (Rx) The Transmitter and Receiver units work together linked to a control unit and a power supply unit. The Transmitter unit emits a modulated infrared signal (IR) towards the Receiver unit, crossing the space being protected to strike the Receiver unit The Receiver unit receives the IR signal, demodulates it and detects whether there is any smoke and/or fire in the environment under surveillance, as indicated where the IR beam is intersected.

The latest version of the Transmitter unit uses a special electronic device to cover the whole distance between the Transmitter and Receiver from 5 m to 200 m. In reality the Transmitter units in the ARDEA Line can survey much greater distances, with three different models available:

AS/2 100 (5 ÷ 200 m)
ASF100 | ASF100 DS-1 (5 ÷ 200 m)
INT8C
ARDEA SF (SF = smoke / fire)
An ideal line detector ideal for industrial processes and for warehouses handling a range of materials (e.g. in the shipping and logistics sectors). The line detector (Tx-Rx) is based on the same principle as that of the S/2 model but combines smoke detection with fire detection, detecting modulations resulting from the start of a fire under different types of conditions. This detector can not only detect smoke, but also fire where it is associated (or able to be associated with) with the features of natural and spontaneous combustion. This model can be selected continuously and discreetly over a wide range of sensitivity thresholds. It can be set by means of a special calibration instrument: i.e. the “UTA“ or the “ADM”.
ARDEA SF DUST (SF = smoke / fire)
A smoke and fire detector (Tx-Rx) suing special algorithms that enable its use even where there are concentrations of dust and vapours, ensuring an excellent response to the start of a fire but with a much reduced risk of false alarms due to environmental interference factors. The varied types of working carried on in industrial environments means that sometimes high levels of steam, dust and aerosols may be present, all of which may cause false alarms. The “Dust” model has been designed to deal particularly with the interferences produced during particular industrial processes. The model differs from a conventional detector in the improved ability to selectively accept only smoke and fire characteristics, rejecting similar phenomena within specified limits that mimic the effects of fire but are not fire related. This model must also be used with careful setting and calibration using the UTA or ADM instruments.
ARDEA S / 2 (S = smoke)
This line detector (Tx-Rx) is particularly suited for fire detection in industrial sheds – palletized and traditional warehouses – garages – supermarkets and megastores – cinemas – theatres – conference rooms – trade exhibition centres – public buildings with large flows of people in general and any other large civil and industrial spaces of any shape. This detector can detect the start of a fire where the symptoms are primarily related to the presence of smoke. As with the SF model above, the sensitivity threshold selections can also be made with this model in continuous and discreet increments over a wide range of levels, again using the “UTA” or “ADM” instruments.

The three versions S/2 – SF – DUST requires an interface (INT8C) for its connection with the control and indicating equipment.
